RV Tips : RV Storage Compartments
Many RV's are equipped with adequate storage (inside and outside), but be cautious on what you stow away.
Using your external RV Storage areas is a great way to store chair, tools, ladders, golf clubs, fishing poles, etc. But be sure that when items are stored in these areas that they are:
- Dry and contain no fluids that can leak out if tipped
- Free of dirt and debris
- Have baterries removed if you are on a long haul, or don't use the items often
- Secured so they are not rolling around or easily tipped over
- In a locked RV Storage compartment. Don't jeopardize your RV equipment to being stolen
Using the external RV storage allows you to maintan a clutter-free internal living area. Just be sure to always lock you storage areas using a guaranteed lock set. This will help you feel secure when sleeping overnight at the local Walmart parking lot, or when you are away from the RV for a long period of time. Get a custom lockset made soon after buying your motorhome or RV. Often times the keys are universal and fit most models, therefore, one key fits all, and puts you at risk. If you are near a Camping World, check out their locks, they offer several types at a good price.
