RV Park :: Criteria for a Good RV PARK

What makes a good RV Park good?

There are many websites and online resources geared toward RV Park reviews, but what should you look for in a good RV Park? We scoured the net to find out what the most common RV Park attributes were amount the masses. Here is what we found.

RV Park Location

One of the most importnat factors was the location, not proximity to a highway, or stores and attractions, but location in regard to geographic placement. Is it near a forest, a lake or stream, by the ocean? Is the RV Park secluded and quiet, or does it offer a gret view of the landscape? This was the most prominate factor we found when doing our research. RVers wanted an RV Park that was located in a scenic spot, away from the hussle and bussle of everyday living. Many folks were looking at a park located near water, the mountains or ocean. This includes finding an RV Park located near attractions if you are simply parking, then leaving to go to off-site places.

RV Park Layout

Second was the layout of the Park. In this case the research showed that RVers wanted a park that was easy to enter, manuver around in, and easy to exit. Many parks are a little tight and challenge the rig driver with getting in, parking and moving around the park. If the spots in the park are crammed together, the driver will have a hard time parking the rig in their spot, or exiting the park if the site is not very long or wide. If you required to back into a site, having wide entrance roads is very important, if not you will be making one heck of a 16-point turn-aournd. Another facet of the layout is the proximity to facitlies at the park. Do the camping areas give you easy access to a store, on-site facilties (showers, restrooms, etc.), meeting areas, and recreational activities (swimming, tennis, childrens areas).

RV Park Site Layout

Once you have found a RV Park located in a nice place, and one with a good layout, you'll need to checkout the RV site layout. This means a few things, such as where is the electric, water and septic hookup in conjunction to your rig? Is the site within proximity of a wireless connection, or does it provide site hookus for cable and internet? Also take into consideration the closeness to other RV sites. Are you and you neighbors positioned so there is no privacy, or are you sitting extremley close to eachother. Are you located near a weedline or swamp which has bugs and critters which will bother you? Is your RV Park site close to a noisy area or the park with lots of traffic? Lastly, does it offer 50 amp hookups for electric, even though 30 amp is often enough?

RV Park Price

You get what you pay for in many cases. Therefore, be sure to check out what is included in your registration for the RV Park. If it seems expensive, expect a great stay and fabulous amenities, if it is dirt cheap, expect to not get much from the park. Check to see if the park gives discounts for holidays, seniors, or frequent travelers.

RV Park Proximity to Attractions

This is important to those RVers who are looking to visit popular local attractions while at the RV Park. Find out how many miles it is to local attractions, and if the RV Park offers any discounts for shows or parks. Also look at proximity to a major road or highway. If you plan to visit other areas, you'll want an RV Park that has easy access to and from other places.

RV Park Security

Oddly enough, RV Park security was the least talked about factor in finding a good RV Park. Security can range from finding a RV Park with is gated and controlled by a pass/badge system, or one that has a park ranger which patrols the grounds and checks on campers/campsites. The also goes for your neighbors; are they trustworthy and not someone who is going to pose a threat to your rig, or you.
